Krapopolis, the mythical animated comedy set in ancient Greece has been picked up for a fourth season, creator Dan Harmon revealed on Thursday to fans at Comic-Con International in San Diego. The early pickup comes prior to the second premiere.
Harmon and fellow exec producers Steve Levy and Alex Rubens (who is also showrunner) were on hand to reveal the pickup news and discuss how the show has progressed through its first two seasons, and what viewers might expect next.
The producers also celebrated the news that star Hannah Waddingham has just been nominated for this year’s Emmys in the outstanding character voice-over performance category, for playing Deliria (in particular, via the Emmy-submitted episode “Big Man on Hippocampus”).
“As you can imagine, anything Dan Harmon does is unflinchingly irreverent and filled with his signature, bold characters; and these early episodes of Krapopolis far surpass even our highest expectations,” said Fox entertainment president Michael Thorn in a statement. “While we continue to evolve Fox’s animation brand, it’s a true delight watching Dan and his team work their magic on Krapopolis. But it’s an even bigger thrill to be so confident in this special project to be able to reward it with an early renewal.”
In addition to Hannah Waddingham, Krapopolis features the voices of Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), Matt Berry (What We Do in The Shadows), Pam Murphy (Mapleworth Murders) and Duncan Trussell (The Midnight Gospel).
Krapopolis is Fox’s first wholly owned animated series and is produced by the company’s animation studio, Bento Box Entertainment.
