Press Release: Gray Television Stations and Detroit-based Waymark, the company behind a generative-AI video production platform, have signed a pact that will feature Waymark’s IP rolled out across all of Gray’s local broadcast stations nationally.

Waymark’s generative-AI video platform allows local businesses to generate high-quality TV commercials with voiceovers in five minutes or less. Gray’s local sales teams are already implementing Waymark’s technology to approach small business prospects with customized spec creative.

Gray Television owns and operates 113 local TV stations across the nation that collectively reach 36% of U.S. TV households.

Pat LaPlatney, President and Co-CEO, Gray Television Inc., stated, “Waymark’s easy to use platform is helping us bring a bigger focus to video marketing in local markets. In return, we’ve been able to produce video at a higher rate and our sales reps have found a great deal of success in utilizing the tool. We’ve already been fortunate to see the benefits of Waymark’s platform throughout our organization nationally.”

Added Waymark CEO Alex Persky-Stern, “We’re thrilled to be rolling out across the nation with Gray Television’s market-leading local broadcast stations. Our AI-video platform is allowing local advertisers the opportunity to create customized, high-quality commercials in record time and at very affordable rates.”

Earlier this year, Waymark and Spectrum Reach, the advertising sales business of Charter Communications, Inc., announced a national deal, as well. Using Waymark’s platform, local businesses across Spectrum Reach’s footprint are creating real-time, ready-to-air commercials for their TV and streaming TV advertising campaigns.

About Gray Television Stations:

Gray Television’s roots began in January 1891 with the creation of the Albany Herald in Albany, Georgia. Over the next several decades, the company transformed in parallel to the ever-changing media landscape, expanding with additional newspaper acquisitions and later television stations to eventually become known as Gray Communications Systems. Between the early 1990s and today, the company was transformed through strategic acquisitions and subtle, yet critical transitions. During that period, Gray Television divested all the newspapers and television stations that it owned prior to 1993 other than WJHG. In their place, Gray Television acquired, and in some cases, built from scratch market-leading television stations focused on local communities. On January 2, 2019, Gray Television completed its acquisition of Raycom, transforming it from a small, regional broadcaster to a leading media company with nationwide scale.
