Aronson Leads New Entity for founders Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle

Entertainment executive, producer and writer Pete Aronson has joined J30 Studios as Head of Development and Production. The newly named company was founded by writer-producer-actors Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle, creators and stars of current series “South Side” on HBOMax and “Sherman’s Showcase” on AMC. The duo had previously operated under their individual company names “Riddle Entertainment” (Riddle) and “Emerald Street” (Salahuddin).

Salahuddin, Riddle and Aronson originally worked together on the 2008 Comedy Central series “Chocolate News”. Salahuddin and Riddle went on to sketch comedy fame at “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”, creating such classics as “Slow Jam the News” and “History of Rap”. In 2018, after Riddle and Salahuddin came out of their HBO development deal for “Brothers in Atlanta”, the trio reunited to work on the Emmy winning “Sherman’s Showcase”.

Aronson served as an Executive Producer on the “Sherman’s Showcase Black History Month Spectacular” one hour special in 2020 and will continue in that role on the upcoming second season of the series for AMC. He will also serve as an Executive Producer with Riddle and Salahuddin on series made under their Warner Bros. Television overall deal.

“I am thrilled and fortunate to work with Bashir and Diallo and the Warner Brothers Television team as they build their business together,” said Aronson. “I have known and worked with the guys for over a decade and their multi-hyphenate creative skills are beyond compare. I look forward to helping them achieve their vision of making world class entertainment for all platforms.”

“Since arriving at Warner Brothers last year we have assembled a diverse slate of creative projects across every genre. The logical next step is to bring in someone like Pete to help us scale our business,” said Riddle. “We have known Pete for a long time, he understands how important it is to build the company while maintaining our unique brand of writing and producing culturally impactful content,” added Salahuddin.

Aronson joins J30 Studios from AMC Networks, where he was EVP, Programming and Production overseeing all aspects of IFC’s Emmy award winning series, including Portlandia, Documentary Now!, Sherman’s Showcase, Brockmire, Stan Against Evil, Year of the Rabbit, Maron and The Film Independent Spirit Awards. Aronson came to AMC with a successful 25 year track record of producing television series, digital content and feature films for entertainment leaders including Disney, Fox, NBCUniversal, Viacom and Warner Bros.

In addition to his recent six year stint at AMC, Aronson was EVP at Walt Disney Television and President of Regency Television LLC. He is also a WGA member and won two NAACP Image awards, a Humanitas award and a BET award for his work as Executive Producer, showrunner and writer on “The Bernie Mac Show.”
