Fox Entertainment Global (FEG), FoxEntertainment’s international content sales unit, has acquired the worldwide tape and format distribution rights to the upcoming docu-soap “Billion Dollar Playground.”
Produced by Ronde Media and scheduled to premiere in Australia on Foxtel’s streaming platform Binge this Summer, and further diversifying FEG’s library of content, “Billion Dollar Playground” is set in the world of opulent homestays through the eyes of a global staff that works for Luxico, Australia’s leading luxury hospitality and concierge provider. Core to every unfolding drama at any given moment of the day, Luxico’s young guns must not only navigate the highly demanding needs of their international guests but also the budding relationships they have with each other as they live, love, work and play together. Rife with sexual tension, raw emotion and flings, friendships and break-ups inevitably spill back into the workplace, further compounding the immense pressure of their demanding jobs.
“Billion Dollar Playground” marks FEG’s first third-party series distribution agreement. FEG will distribute eight one-hour episodes of the program to networks and platforms outside of Australia. The company will also represent international format rights to the program.
“‘Billion Dollar Playground’ delivers everything docu-soap fans desire — drama, intrigue, romance and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the ultra-high-end lifestyle of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world,” said Smyth. “This is a show that will play well, no matter the territory or platform, and we are excited to add ‘Billion Dollar Playground’ to FEG’s growing stable of owned and third-party content, and sell it to buyers across the globe.”
Ronde founder, Ben Davies notes, “Audiences will love the upstairs-downstairs world of ‘Billion Dollar Playground’ – the demanding guests and the strained house-staff. After all, what job could be more difficult than keeping rich people happy.”
“Billion Dollar Playground” is produced by Ronde Media and executive produced by Ben Davies and David Emery, with Bethan Briegel-Jones serving as Co-Executive Producer and Anita Brown as Post Executive Producer.
